Kochanke
In August 2005 Egon Kochanke was appointed
Minister and Head of the Economic Department at the Embassy
of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Mr. Kochanke joined the German Federal
Foreign Office in 1980.
Prior to his current assignment at the German Embassy in
Washington DC,
Mr. Kochanke served as the Head of the Export Control Division
II at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin from 2002 - 2005.
During his foreign office career he served as Minister Counsellor
and Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv
from 1999 -2002. He was also Private Secretary to the
State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office in Bonn from
1996 -1999, after having served as Political Counsellor at
the German Embassy in London from 1992 -1996. Before he became
Counsellor at the Parliamentary and Cabinet Bureau of the
Federal Foreign Office in Bonn in 1989, he served as a Foreign
Officer at the German Embassies in Monrovia, Liberia and
Ottawa, Canada.
Mr. Kochanke studied History, Political Sciences, Sociology
and Law at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg, Germany.
He is married and has two sons.
