David Geanacopoulos is Director of Industry
– Government Relations of Volkswagen of America, Inc.
in the company’s Washington, D.C. office.
Mr. Geanacopoulos joined Volkswagen
of America in 2003. As Director of Industry – Government
Relations, Mr. Geanacopoulos is responsible for regulatory,
legislative, and public affairs for Volkswagen of America.
Prior to joining Volkswagen of America,
Mr. Geanacopoulos was a Partner in the firm of Akin, Gump,
Strauss, Hauer, & Feld in Washington, DC. From 1983 until
2003, Mr. Geanacopoulos specialized in lobbying on automotive,
international trade, and foreign relations matters before
Congress and the executive branch. He was made a Partner in
1992.
Mr. Geanacopoulos was a Legislative
Assistant to the Honorable Edward P. Boland (D-MA) from 1977
to 1983.
Mr. Geanacopoulos received a Bachelor
of Arts (A.B.) in Psychology and Social Relations from Harvard
University in 1977. He received a Juris Doctor (J.D) from
Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
