| About the GABC
The German American Business Council
is a non-profit organization, dedicated to assisting German
and American companies. Based in Washington DC, the GABC
serves its corporate and individual members not only in
the greater Washington area but also in other US states
and Germany. The organization currently has over 50 members
many of whom hold senior positions in their respective companies.
GABC was originally founded 10 years
ago by Leo Welt, as the German-American Business Councel.
His great personality and unwavering support for German-American
business relations made GABC a Washington institution. When
Leo Welt passed away in 2004, its members decided to regroup
and elect a new leadership board and merged with members of
the former German American Business Association (GABA).
"We have a longstanding relationship
with the German American Business Council. Under the leadership
of President Steve Williams and Executive Director Ulrich
Gamerdinger, the Council will go a long way to strengthening
the German-American business relationship."
—Thomas Donohue, U.S. Chamber of
Commerce President and CEO
Supported by the Embassy of the Federal
Republic of Germany in Washington and the German-American
business community, GABC is going to be one of the prime organizations
where members from both countries can meet, exchange their
views and get together with key business and political leaders
from both sides of the Atlantic.
It is not only GABC’s goal to help
its members to succeed economically in their particular fields
by trying to collect and exchange expertise in all areas of
bi-lateral trade and business, but its members are also enjoying
a great variety of program events addressing economical and
political issues as well as opportunities to get together
socially.
GABC’s continuous growth and expansion
has already made it one of the most influential German-American
institutions in the greater Washington area.
